Orthopaedics

The Orthopaedic team consists of three New Zealand trained surgeons. Each is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and have undertaken extensive postgraduate training at international centres of excellence. In addition to the consultant surgeons, the team also has two orthopaedic fellows, who are recently qualified orthopaedic consultants furthering their interest in the area of Sports Medicine.

The Orthopaedic Surgeons will be able to offer a comprehensive clinical program for the treatment of acute and chronic injuries to tendons, bones and joints caused by participation in sports or exercise. Depending on the injury, it may be managed in a conservative manner or require surgery. If an operation is needed then our Orthopaedic Surgeons will be able to carry out the procedure at one of the four hospitals in Auckland which are utilised by our clinic.

Our Orthopaedic Surgeons are highly specialised and are at the forefront in the diagnosis and treatment of knee, ankle and shoulder injuries. Their areas of expertise include:

  • Arthroscopic surgery
  • Meniscal / cartilage surgery
  • Ligament reconstruction surgery, especially anterior cruciate ligament (ACL)
  • Shoulder reconstruction surgery
  • Rotator cuff repair
  • Tendon surgery and reconstruction

A referral from a Sports Physician or General Practitioner is needed before an appointment with the orthopaedic consultant can be made.
